Marc Jacobs was born in New York City on the 19th of April, 1963. He graduated from high school of Art Design in 1981, and entered Parsons school of design, from here he designed his first collection of hand-knit sweaters. In 1986 Jacobs designed his first collection with the Marc Jacobs label.
The following year, Jacobs received the distinct honor of being the youngest designer ever to be awarded the fashion industry’s highest tribute: The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In 1997, Marc Jacobs was appointed Creative Director of luxury French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, where he created the company's first ready-to-wear line.
Marc Jacobs is famous for collaborating with many popular artists for his Louis Vuitton collections. As of 2008, Jacobs remains the Creative Director for Louis Vuitton.
In 2007, Jacobs was ranked 8th on Out magazine´s list of "50 Most Powerful Men and Women in America". He is also very committed to charitable organizations, and supported to around 33 charities, including Cancer Care and the AIDS foundation. MARC JACOBS eyewear collection was previewed in the fall 2004 and was launched in 2005. His eyewear displays outstanding style in both sunglasses and eyewear.
